Meet the China family

Meet the China family, a busy family with five children, who live here in Foxbridge.

Charissa is always on the go- having five children and working as the headmistress of Foxbridge Academy keeps her running around from dawn until dusk. She loves a little chaos, and doesn't mind her early starts and late nights as she gets to see the joy on every child's face during the day, and snuggle up with her own children before they go to bed.

Basil is very shy, and likes to think. He works as a building inspector, so he gets time on his own during the day. He does most of the childcare for the family, and loves the half hour he gets to play with his littlest twins in the morning before taking them to their childminder, Velvetee Slydale. He likes nothing more than curling up in bed for the night with Charissa and falling asleep to the sound of everyone else snoring softly.

Jessica is the oldest child, and knows how to get her siblings to be as good as gold. She loves to read, not just her own stories, but reading out loud to her little sister, Daisy. Jessica would love to be a librarian when she grows up. She finds organising the family's book corner very satisfying and with such a big, busy family, the quiet, peaceful library is a haven for her.

Edward-Euan is much shyer than any of his siblings, and takes after his dad. He likes playing with his toy cars and driving them about on imaginary journeys. At school, he's only really noisy when he's outside chasing his friends in the sandpit at breaktime, and then he can't be missed! He's in the youngest class at the whole school, so he gets to play a lot currently.

Daisy is in the middle of the group of siblings, so she has to keep up with everyone! She tries to give everyone some time every single day, and gives everybody a hug when they come through the door at the end of the day. Her favourite time of day is breakfast as she loves crunching on toast. Sometimes, when she's been very good, Basil lets her have a little piece of buttered toast before brushing her teeth at bedtime.

Daffy and Orchid can't talk yet, but they are very lively, and love to giggle. They are very curious, and often decide to switch cots during the middle of the night to check out what it's like on the other side of the bedroom. They love chatting to each other and playing on their slide before going out for the day. They're always happy, it seems, and they can't wait to get to go to nursery and explore the toys that Daisy has told them all about.

This is Apple Cottage, where the family live. They've recently had a bit of a home makeover, as you can see!

Before and after
The children's' room is absolutely adorable! I love how bright it looks, now. The reading corner books are some books I loved myself- Charlotte's Web, Paddington and The Cat in the Hat. The patchwork quilt in Daisy's cot is my favourite craft.

The family still has their lovely cosy sofa, but now it doesn't dominate the room. The kitchen units also add so much, and I love how this turned out- it feels organised instead of just furniture pushed into the cottage. What an upgrade! I still want to add curtains and a few more bits of wall décor here and there, but I'm really happy- I hope the China family are too!
